It is not wisdom , to be only wise
And on the inward vision close the eyes
But it is wisdom to believe the heart
In today’s world , parents teach their children to goto school ,get educated and get good grades for a bright future. But is it justified in the present world?
Most of the CEO’s of huge conglomerates are school or college drop outs, people with very nominal degrees but great vision and potential to perform. Does this mean that college education is not very helpful? Well it could be. All that we learn in our school and college is theory, how to solve numericals , how things work etc. A tremendous pressure is laid upon a student to perform academically. Companies employ students with 60% and above score, universities for higher education also demand the same. How justified is this? Why is a person forced to study things in which he has absolutely no interest? I agree education is important but does education constitute of studying subjects only? Nah….
Most of us prepare real hard for the competitive exams to get into a good B school. Is it essential to go to a business school to learn about business management? Again the answer is NO. A person who has absolutely no knowledge about the various management fundas might be a far better businessman than somebody who knows all of them by heart. A person who knows is the one who is scared to differ from it and is not adventurous enough to try something new.Whereas a person who doesn’t know about all these is someone who would always be innovative and imaginative. If such is the case then why do most of us slog? Why are we a part of the rat race?
The answer is that we are afraid to be different. We don’t want to stand out in a crowd because we are scared of criticism and failure. But it’s a fact that people who have the guts to be different and are bold are the ones who truly succeed in life.

well said... just one thing i would like to mention is that not all the people who go to the universities and colleges are the part of the rat race and are scared of criticism and failure... i agree a lot of people do it bcoz others are doin the same but still there are some who are totally diff from all these rats...
still a nicely written article... (esp the first 4 n last 2 lines)...
gud one..expect many more to come
Juss one question - people after knowing that - still are part of rat race
Even you are preparing for CAT. What is your motivation for doing an MBA?
Dont get me wrong I m sure u r not the one who will juss preach.
But in the past discussions, even you were saying that you even want to do masters because our seniors got into very good institutions.
and management - today 99% students are interested in management and looking to become fundoo managers trying to rock the corporate worlds
So arent you doin the same thing - going for all the three things - GRE (masters)
CAT (MBA)
job - you already have
Please do reply
Sorry, but i beg to differ.
I've pretty much slogged for most of my life in both studies and work.
I completed by graduation working...
It's not that i needed to or anything, but it's what validated everything i believed in. I can give u many scenarios!
Suppose, u r in a Bank and the teller/clerk states some obscure rule in the Negotiable instuments act and says he won't pass the transaction. If u r a lay person u'll go along, but, if u are educated u can call his bluff!
Case in point: most of the so said CEO's (dropouts)Employ ppl like us to advise them because they know they are incomplete!!
See i m utterly dispappinted and feeling very bed that i thot u r not the one who will juss preach
but i guess writing in blog is different from believing in what u write
hey anonymous, sorry for the late reply....didnt check.well yes i do have a job and gave a few exams....but then thats not what i want to do.this was written to learn from others what opinion thy have abt this...and gud to see that u ppl have really diff views...so what do u think shud be done?
I think there is no need to point a finger on anyone - ppl who are doing MBA or ppl who are not doing MBA
Everyone is different in this world and at the end everyone can't be a CEO...balance has to be there
only ppl who force their opinions on the others are the ones to be criticized
